Insane thermite gun for those who have little domestic flamethrower (16+)

A year ago, on Indiegogo, an enchanting fundraiser for the production of a portable flamethrower , which hits 8 meters, was held. Great for igniting a fire and destroying parasites (in the sense of insects).

The flamethrower has already gone on sale, and now fans of fireworks have a new idol. British engineer, inventor and blogger Colin Furze made a thermite steampunk grenade launcher in his barn! This gadget is even more impressive than a flamethrower. The “gun” shoots shells with a thermite mixture that burns at a temperature of 2300-2700ºC.

The structure consists of a supply and pneumatic ejector, a compressed gas cylinder, a burner, a relay, a battery, a handle and a barrel. Near the handle - tumblers to feed the projectile and turn on the burner.



The engineer produced the thermite mixture by mixing iron oxide (eight parts) with aluminum powder (three parts). The mixture is compacted under pressure in a metal cylinder from under the air freshener (the author used an aerosol can from under the paint). This balloon and shoots a gun.

Making thermite mixtures and shells


The projectile is charged into the barrel, and the feeding device moves it closer to the gas burner with electric ignition. The projectile is set on fire, the pneumatic pusher is triggered and launches the bomb at the target.

In published videos, Colin Furz demonstrates the process of making thermite shells and the termite metro itself. From it, he sets fire to the mountain of garbage in the barn and arranges fireworks.
