Students from the University of Tokyo have created a robotic arm, which, according to them, is impossible to win in the game "Rock, paper, scissors."

According to the creators, the submitted version of the robot is already the third. The system consists of two modules: the first tracks the shape and position of the hand in real time and sends a signal to the second, which is a robotic arm with a control module.

Unlike previous models of the machine, the new optical module with a minimum delay is dynamically centered right in the user's palm. By the movement of the fingers, it allows almost instantly to determine what a person will show - "stone", "scissors" or "paper".

Due to the high speed of the movement of the robotic arm and the operation of the recognition module, the system allows you to prepare a “winning” version by the time the person completes the movement of the fingers.

To achieve the desired effect, the developers combined modules from two systems: 1ms Auto Pan-Tilt and Lumipen 2. The first was created to track various physical objects during sports competitions, and the second - to create dynamic projections on moving objects.

At the development stage, the students set themselves the task of meeting the 60-millisecond gap, for which the user forms the position of the hand, and at the expense of speed does not allow him to change the decision at the last moment.
