Between Google and the financial company
Fidelity Investments on the one hand, and SpaceX on the other, a deal was officially concluded, according to which approximately 10% of the shares of the company Ilona Mask passed to the new owners. In turn, the size of investment in SpaceX amounted to $ 1 billion. Thus, insider
information , voiced by TheInformation, turned out to be only partially true: they believed that the amount of investment could reach 10 billion.
The subject of cooperation between Google and SpaceX should be a project to launch 4,000 low-orbit satellites to provide Internet for remote areas of the planet, to be held in the next five years. About a week ago, Musk had already
filed with the International Telecommunication Union (international regulator, a UN division) a package of technical documentation about the project.
Similar projects - providing access to the Internet using aircraft - are being developed in one form or another by many high-tech companies: on Google this is Project Loon, on Virgin Galactic it is also the launch of satellites. Mark Zuckerberg’s company also tried to take part in this race, however, Google managed to outbid Titan Aerospace, a company that develops solar-powered drones, before Facebook.
