Another surprise "from the past" for users of iOS devices

Welcome to the pages of the blog iCover ! It seems that the past literally pursues Apple, reminding lovers of the merits of its products with software failures that are somehow related to dates that are decades apart on the timeline. As soon as Apple coped with the elimination of the previous problem associated with the date January 1, 1970, a new one, again connected with 01/01/1970, appeared. Fortunately for the company engaged in litigation with the FBI and the US Department of Justice, this time the problem poses no danger to tablets and smartphones of iOS users, although amid recent events, it could plunge impressionable iPhone and iPad owners into a state of temporary confusion.

So the problem: the owners of iOS devices found in their mailbox fresh letters, dated January 1, 1970. In this case, the address of the sender of correspondence is missing. Empty subject field and letter body. Attempts to delete the specified messages in a standard program way do not bring success. Thus, the only identifiable information in correspondence is the date, which in the light of recent events is known to almost every owner of the company's devices.

It is worth noting that many users who received mysterious correspondence declare that they changed their time zone when reading mail. The fact whether letters from the 0th addressee are detected in third-party offers has not yet been received.

According to part of the audience of the Reddit resource, the reason is that Apple's mail server is simply unable to correctly interpret the headers of letters with the wrong time zone or those that do not indicate the date of departure. As a result, an iPad or iPhone displays empty e-mails dated 1/1/1970.

Users who have received "news from the past" should not panic: these letters will not cause any harm to the device or OS. In order to get rid of this “superspam” it is enough to perform a forced reboot of the device by pressing and holding the power button and the Home button. When the Apple logo appears, the buttons should be released. Thus, you will save yourself from this new unexpected problem and prevent its appearance in the future.

We add that the e-mail dated 01/01/1970 could not be sent that day by definition, since, according to popular opinion, the sender of the first e-mail in the history of mankind to a remote ARPANET subscriber in 1971 was a man-legend Ray Tomlinson , who passed away in last Saturday at the age of 74 years. It is he who owns the copyright on the "@" symbol, SPYNET and TENEX software products, and the messaging technology known to us as e-mail today.
