One of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns has no money for delivering a product to customers

Coolest Cooler, one of the most successful crowdfunding projects on the Kickstarter platform, is experiencing difficulties again . This time, despite record-breaking fees of more than $ 13 million, the project does not have enough money to send the product to customers who supported the campaign.

Among the most successful projects on Kickstarter, surrounded by Pebble watches, traveler jackets , game consoles and exploding kittens , the second place is the “ coolest cooler ” - a box containing everything you need for picnics, starting from a blender suitable for splitting ice , and ending with a waterproof speaker for playing music via Bluetooth.

The project, which started in July 2014, was enthusiastically supported by more than 65,000 applicants, and at one time it was the most successful project of the resource - until the Pebble color watch appeared . But it turns out that $ 13 million may not be enough to complete happiness.

Initially, the head of the company, Ryan Grepper, promised to start supplying ready-made coolers in February 2015. But due to the huge demand and delivery problems, this date was postponed from February to July. In July, deliveries finally began , but still not all of the backers got their coolers, and many of those who received complained about the quality of their production.

In addition, in the fall of 2015, it turned out that the company had problems with the supplier of blenders, and she began to look for another supplier - naturally, in the process, the remaining backers could not get their own copies of Coolest Cooler. At the same time, the company made a controversial decision to sell a certain number of coolers through Amazon in order to earn money for operating expenses - which caused outrage among people who paid for coolers a year ago and still awaiting their receipt.

Regarding current delivery problems, Grepper wrote in a blog post that the company "is in the process of choosing the right partner to provide the finances and strategic resources to ensure the production of the remaining part of the coolers and take the company to a new level."

Delays in delivery are almost a must-have for startups who raise money with crowdfunding. But the extreme success of the company, apparently, also does not guarantee success. An investigation into the history of another unsuccessful project from the Kickstarter platform, which, however, failed completely, was recently completed - the Zano microcopter promotion company , which collected more than $ 3.5 million, turned out to be, in fact, a big fraud.
