Buzz Aldrin is developing a 25-year plan for the colonization of Mars

Cosmonautics veteran Buzz Aldrin develops a plan for the colonization of Mars, which is planned for 25 years. He does this not alone, but together with the Florida Institute of Technology. The plan provides for the establishment of a colony of earthlings on Mars in 2039, just on the 70th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar expedition.

Aldrin took part in the signing ceremony at the university, which is less than an hour from the Kennedy Space Center NASA . The project provides for the creation of the Aldrin Space Center based at the Florida Institute of Technology.

85-year-old Aldrin, who landed on the moon after Neil Armstrong, will work as an aeronautics research professor, plus he will work as a consultant at the institute.

Buzz Aldrin hopes that his “master plan” for the exploration of Mars will be approved by both NASA and the US government, with the participation of international partners. As for NASA, the agency is already working on the creation of a spacecraft and launch vehicle to send a manned mission to Mars by the mid-2030s.

According to Aldrin, his plan to establish a colony on Mars in 2039 is quite real. In addition, the plan can be optimized and modified if necessary. The astronaut believes that sending people to Mars without a “return ticket” is not a very successful decision, the “rotational” expeditions with a duration of 10 years look more realistic, after which the next batch of volunteers replaces the colonists. As transshipment points you can use the moons of Mars - Phobos and Deimos.

Now both scientists and businessmen are increasingly actively talking about the need for the colonization of Mars. One of the supporters of the settlement of the Red Planet is Ilon Musk. According to Mask, Mars should be settled as quickly as possible so that by 2100 there would be about a million people on the Red Planet. A million people will be able to provide sufficient genetic diversity so that there are no problems in the development of a human population associated with an insufficient “genetic fund”.

This should be done on the basis of several considerations. First, settling the neighboring planet will allow preserving civilization if a catastrophe occurs on the Earth itself. Secondly, the colonization of the planets of the solar system is something like a springboard for a man to reach the stars. This is an experience that will help settle any other planets in any other region of the Universe.
