"Terminator: Genesis" unexpectedly became popular in China

The latest film from the legendary Terminator: Genesis series of terminators, starring in which Arnold Schwarzenegger played the main role, suddenly became popular in China. For the first day of the movie, the film managed to collect a solid cash register of $ 27.4 million in 25,000 cinemas, which is quite comparable with such superhits as “The Avengers: Era of Ultron” and “Transformers: the era of extermination”, which can boast of $ 33 and $ 30 million, respectively, collected in Celestial for the first day of release of pictures.

These figures, of course, do not go to any comparison with the "Fast and the Furious 7", which instantly rose to first place, collecting just $ 63 million, but nevertheless "Terminator: Genesis" took a solid fourth place in this rating. Thus, the continuation of the cyborg franchise from the future will most likely be justified in a financial sense, despite the obvious hint at the sequel left by the authors in the film.

Interestingly, in the rest of the world, the affairs of the Terminator in each individual country do not go so well. Moreover, “Genesis” can become the first film that managed to earn $ 400 million outside the United States, while at the same time failing to reach the psychological mark of $ 100 million in homeland. A total of $ 155 million was spent on production, and the US box office barely exceeded $ 89 million. Now the film has $ 363 million in the bank, a significant proportion of which were tickets purchased by Chinese viewers.

The most famous "Terminator" Arnold Schwarzenegger continues to be popular in China. His latest films, in which he starred with Sylvester Stallone, “Plan of Escape” and “Expendables 3” earned $ 40 and $ 72 million from local movie lovers, respectively. In this case, the fees of the same films in the United States left $ 25 and $ 39 million.

The most successful and recognized films from the universe of terminators are the first two films made by director James Cameron. In Russia, the movie "Terminator: Genesis" has a relatively low popularity rating on the Kinopoisk website. Reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are also mostly negative.
