Apple promises to solve the “1970 problem” with the next update.





Apple has recognized the existence of the "1970 problem." Let me remind you that because of this problem, the iPhone turns into a “brick” if you change the current date to January 1, 1970 and restart the smartphone. The promise to correct the situation Apple has posted on the official website. The corporation also advises users to contact the official service center if a similar situation arises.



As previously reported , the problem is relevant for all Apple smartphones on x64 architecture on A7, A8, A8X, A9 and A9X processors. For the first time, a problem was reported on Reddit , telling about the possibility of disabling the iPhone by simply transferring the date to January 1, 1970 and then rebooting.



The iOS version doesn't matter at all. Some users were fooled by network pranksters who posted tips on translating iPhones to 1970 on the Web. At the same time, it was reported that this was a “Easter egg”, which allows to get a new design of applications and several new wallpapers. After the victim complied with the instructions of the pranksters, she received a non-working smartphone. Recovery via iTunes in this case also does not help.
