On February 11, President Alexander Lukashenko
signed decree No. 40 , which reduces the rate of duty-free importation of international parcels from 200 to 22 euros per month (no more than 10 kg instead of the previous 31 kg). The decree comes into force two months after its official publication.
Since Belarus is part of a single customs union with Russia, it is desirable to unify the customs legislation of both countries. Most likely, a similar decrease in the rate of duty-free import in Russia will occur in the very near future.
The reasons for the introduction of new levies are quite obvious: the budget deficit, the reduction of gold and foreign exchange reserves, the urgent need to pay large sums on foreign loans. No one gives Belarus new loans so it is necessary to mobilize internal reserves.

For the same reasons, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Belarus is preparing to introduce a
turnover tax of 10% on mobile services and the Internet from March 1. The government also proposes to introduce a fee for visiting clinics, they have other creative ideas.
