At CES 2016, Consumer Electronics Show, co-founder and director of Netflix, Reed Hastings, announced that from today, the service is now available almost worldwide. Streaming video can now be viewed in more than 190 countries, including Russia. This discovery immediately added 130 countries to the list of those where the service was available.



“Today you have witnessed the birth of the world wide web,” Hastings said. “With its launch, consumers from all over the world, from Singapore to St. Petersburg, from San Francisco to Sao Paulo, will be able to enjoy TV shows and movies without any delay. In 2016, the company will show, in particular, 31 TV shows, among which there will be both new shows and new seasons of already-on TV shows. Company programs are available in more than 20 languages. New users are offered one free month of using the service.



Netflix was founded in 1997. Initially, she was engaged in renting films on DVDs, and in 2007 she was engaged in the provision of the video-on-demand Internet service. In recent years, Netflix began its own production of television series. In July 2013, Netflix was the first candidate for an Emmy Award-winning Internet Video Provider. The company received 14 nominations, of which the Netflix series “House of Cards” received 9.
