Nissan will give a second life to LEAF batteries

LEAF and Green Charge Networks have announced a partnership . The main goal is the development of household battery power systems based on the already used batteries for the Nissan Leaf. In this project, Nissan will compete with Tesla and Mercedes.

It is worth recalling that Tesla now manufactures battery systems , both household and corporate, offering its development at a low percentage with the possibility of repaying a loan for 10 years. In addition, recently announced its intention to release similar systems and the company Mercedes.

Nissan plans to create battery systems based on the already used LEAF electric vehicle batteries. In this case, only batteries that can no longer be used to ensure the operation of the vehicle will be used. According to company representatives, the idea is no longer just a concept, the project is gradually being implemented. The developers claim that old batteries, despite some loss of capacity, are still able to work for a long time. And when combining several batteries, you can form a fully functional system of a certain capacity.

At the end of the summer, such systems will be used in Nissan's own plant in California, USA. Here, the batteries will help relieve the load on the company's power system at times of peak energy consumption.

After some time, these batteries will appear on the market, they will be sold through the company 4R Energy. The project itself will allow both to find a reliable way to dispose of used batteries, and to get additional profit, as well as the approval of environmental organizations and customers who listen to the opinion of such organizations.
