I listened to a conversation with the participants of the SpaceIL project - the landing of the Israeli apparatus on the moon as part of the Google Moon X Prize
1. The idea to participate in the competition came at a gathering with whiskey 2. The mass is small, so there is no acceleration and landing steps - all in one unit 3. They are the first of the participants of the Google Moon X Prize signed a launch contract - for 2017, passing loads from SpaceX (I also donated money for this) 4. More than 30 people work on the project, not counting volunteers, 20 of them are full-time 5. Money from Israeli businessmen and firms; some firms do not help with money, but with equipment. State money does not participate (condition Google Moon X Prize) 6. A lot of logistics - for example, different permissions for import, export - communication with mines of defense, etc. 7. The main goal of the project is educational - they want to achieve the “Apollo effect” - when in the States after landing on the moon, the number of people who went to study in engineering specialties sharply increased 8. One professor from inst. Weitznam persuaded them to turn on the scientific device - they would measure the magnetic field 9. Due to the fact that there is not enough weight, there will be no rover, and in order to fulfill the condition of the Google Moon X Prize - to move 500m they jump - they will fly up and sit down 10. Due to the fact that there is little weight in the antenna orientation equipment — they will immediately land at a certain angle — so that the solar battery is on the Sun and the antenna is on the Earth. 11. If you win 20 million Google Moon X Prize - donate all the money for technical education in Israeli schools 12. One of the competitors on Google Moon X Prize is going to become lunar Fedex - for the money to deliver cargo to the moon at 80 thousand dollars per kg 13. The grandfather of one of the project’s founders worked as a prisoner of a concentration camp in the production of V-2 rockets. Here is a video of the flight diagram:
