A new Google Mobile will appear on ordinary roads this summer.

This summer, on public roads near Mountain View, where Google's headquarters is located, you will see a new version of the company's robilmobile. This announcement was made at Google on Friday . It will be a two-seater with a removable wheel, with gas and brake pedals, and one driver will control the actions of the car all the time. The previous “alpha” version required the participation of two operators simultaneously.

The machine, reminiscent of the illegitimate child Smart and Nissan Micra, is completely electric. Its speed is artificially limited to 40 kilometers per hour. RoboMobil will use the results obtained from the operation of several Lexus cars, which have long been rallying on the ADR in the framework of the Google research project. Lexus cars were equipped with autonomous driving systems, and in the process of working out the algorithms they got into 11 accidents - but, as the company emphasizes, all the incidents did not happen through their fault.

“Sometimes accidents simply cannot be avoided, despite the high speed of the computer’s reaction, which exceeds that of humans,” Chris Urmson, project manager for autonomous cars, justifies his children. “Sometimes someone just arrives in the backside at a traffic light.”

“We heated and cooled our car, checked the reliability of all units, forced it to drive around the landfill sites, equipped with artificial irregularities,” says engineer Jamie Wade, who is directly involved in the development.

Despite the success of the team, the operation of the robotic car at the moment is not all roses and songs. In the United States, four states have already allowed, with certain reservations, the use of unmobiles on public roads - Michigan, Florida, California and Nevada. But for the normal operation of the robot requires a good marking, and distinguishable road signs, and working traffic lights. Google has already appealed to the Nevada State Department of Transportation with a request to update the markup and make it more visible.
