Scientists have associated daily moderate coffee consumption with a reduction in the risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and diseases of the nervous system.
Doctors from the Harvard Health Professional School believe that regular consumption of this popular drink can be included in the list of products suitable for a healthy diet.
The researchers found a relationship between reduced health risks and the consumption of moderate amounts of coffee per day - no more than 5 cups. In addition, it turned out that people regularly drinking coffee are less prone to suicide. Interestingly, even decaffeinated coffee had a positive effect. Apparently, some other chemical substance contained in grains is beneficial.
The study is based on the processing of profiles of more than two hundred thousand residents of the United States. Each of them participated in the research once in four years, and the total duration of observations amounted to 30 years.

It was found that most people who regularly use coffee, were also prone to smoking and drinking alcohol. However, among those who did not smoke, health indicators were significantly better than those of smokers.
“Regular coffee can be included in a healthy diet,” said study leader Frank Hu, a professor of nutrition and epidemiology at Harvard. “However, some groups of people, in particular, pregnant women and children, should be careful not to consume too large amounts of caffeine in both coffee and other beverages.”
