Mystick Review: A post that could be written with a piece of banana

The May days were not so lucky with the weather, and so I remembered a toy that I dragged home much ahead of time, but it was very well suited for it today: Mystick.

What it is

')
Mystick is the inventor's set , which “turns” any object capable of carrying out current into the active control button from the given options, and at the same time resembles the old “tube” joystick from the “Dandy”.

In the basic set you get a fee, several short crocodiles and “jumpers”, under which there are entrances on the back side on four sides.

The front side allows you to control the gameplay by a clear algorithm: left-right-forward-back + space and the "substitute" click. By and large, to surprise a small child, tell an older child about what physics is, or have fun with friends, that's enough.

You connect the board like a regular USB keyboard, ground it, and then your imagination. You can control the gameplay with the help of an apple, an orange, an olive and everything else that conducts a little.

Since I am convinced that technology is nothing without a person, I have grounded through myself:

And then I just connected a piece of kiwi to the space and (sorry for the quality):

From the outside, it looks very homely: a cutting board, a fruit salad blank and a flying kitten:

On the same side, you can control most of the Flash races, but I slightly complicated my task and assigned additional functions to a banana, an apple, a lemon, and — inedible — to clay.

This series replaced my “wasd” control, and at the moment I had a “working” back side of the board, where on each side there are inlets for wires:

Sorry for the quality again:

Speaking of plasticine. It is included in an additional (completely optional) set, where in addition to it a lot of “conductive” things are thrown , for example, a bag of graphite, foil, bottle caps, etc.

Although its main value, in my opinion, is an additional five-meter alligators.

Summing up, I will say that my children are 2 and 3 years old, and it seemed to them very funny, even causing some genuine laughter. Although on the other hand, in such a “closed” form, the set has a limited interest in both children and adults, like the Verve board.

However, as it becomes clear from the description, the device can be reflashed and "reassigned" control, but this is not my primitive level.

“The inventor’s Mystick kit is based on the ATmega32u4 controller and uses a bootloader from Arduino Leonardo. This means that you can easily reprogram the Mystick into the Arduino IDE and use it in the Arduino style to control various devices, such as motors, servos, etc. Of course, the contacts on the back of the Mystick are not compatible with Arduino-shield by location, but you can use the breadboard with a set of wires to connect other modules.

You can also change the characters Mystick sends to the computer at any time. To do this, you need to edit the file settings.h in the source code of Mystick and reflash it through the Arduino IDE . ”

Happy holidays and good mood to you!

* Considering the specifics of the device, I consider it undesirable to use people with pacemakers!
