"Pirate" sites are preparing for perpetual blocking

Starting tomorrow, the scope of the "anti-piracy" law will be significantly expanded, and with repeated violations of the resource will be blocked forever. Right holders and organizations to protect their interests have already prepared huge lists of sites for which they will seek perpetual blocking. Operators of some resources are trying to find a common language and come to cooperate with copyright holders. But the rest are preparing for the eternal hit in the "black list".

Rutor.org confidently warns its users that in early May the site will be blocked forever, and thousands of other resources will appear behind it in the Roskomnadzor registry. Therefore, the administration of Rutor.org has provided users with frequently repeated, but useful information on bypassing blocks. Users are invited to either access the site through the mirrors of the free-rutor.org and zerkalo-rutor.org, as well as the IPv6- , .onion- and .i2p- mirrors, or to proxy the traffic.

In the latter case, it is possible to install and configure special extensions to bypass locks: fri-gate , Browsec, ZenMate , Hola . Users of Opera and “Yandex Browser” simply turn on the Turbo mode. You can also download and install a special pirate browser or a set of Tor Browser , in which the normal Internet traffic can pass through the exit-node outside of Russia. For setting up proxy servers in browsers, Firefox users recommend the FoxyProxy extension, among the possible proxies is Immunicity .

The administration will inform users about possible problems by e-mail, but all information on circumventing locks is presented on the website Rutor.org . This means that after blocking the site access to it will be lost. The operators of the MegaShara site provided for this case, so they brought the status site to a separate domain megasharastatus.com . It presents roughly the same small list of lock traversal methods.

The Federal Law of July 2, 2013 No. 187-FZ “On Amendments to the Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation on the Protection of Intellectual Rights in Information and Telecommunication Networks” entered into force on August 1, 2013. It implies the possibility of blocking websites on which there are unlicensed materials, we are talking about video content. After non-fulfillment of the requirements by resource operators, the site is blocked by adding the site to the Roskomnadzor’s “black list”. The law caused a great response from the entire Runet, among the companies criticizing it were Yandex, Google, VKontakte, Mail.ru Group, and Wikimedia RU.

From May 1 of this year, amendments that come under the scope of the Federal Law of July 2, 2013 No. 187-FZ, music, books and software - the so-called “extended anti-piracy law” - come into force. Now it applies only to movies. Another change is the nature of blocking: if now the Moscow City Court recognizes the site as an infringer, then Roskomnadzor will hand over the site for unloading to communication service providers. After a few hours, the site will become unavailable in Russia, but after removing the content-inducing questions, it will also be quickly excluded from the “black list”. Starting tomorrow, the right holders will have the opportunity to block websites that repeatedly violate the law for life. It is enough that the same company won a court against the same resource twice, and the court can block the site forever. It is not known whether the two strikes of the violation will be taken into account in this calculation until May 1, 2015.
