Painless blood sampling - new reality sponsored by DARPA

Taking blood samples for analysis is a rather unpleasant, painful procedure. Some people are indifferent to this, but for many people, the selection of blood causes panic. And we are talking about adults. What about children? Young parents add a couple of dozen gray hairs, while a medical worker draws blood from their offspring.

The company Tasso , working in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin (USA), proposed a new technology for blood sampling, which is completely painless. All the work is done by a special portable device, inside of which is a vacuum pump. In just two minutes, the device takes a sufficient amount of blood for medical needs. Developers call their system “blood sampling a weak vacuum).

The development is quite promising, which has already been recognized by DARPA, which funded the project immediately for $ 3 million. The company working on the project is going to spend most of the grant on working with companies that produce reliable and relatively inexpensive preservatives for donor blood as well as plasma. The goal is to reduce the number of stages of the blood collection procedure, plus increase the convenience of such a procedure for the patient.

The volume of blood taken by the method developed by Tasso is 0.15 ml. This is enough for a fairly large number of common tests: including markers of cancer, cholesterol, sugar samples and infectious diseases.
