Asia claims to be called the most progressive region in the world in the field of Internet and telecommunications.
According to a
study by Research and Markets , the Asian telecommunications market in 2006 showed significant growth. The main merit of this belongs to China: the number of Chinese cellular users grew by 20% and reached 400 million.
Japan leads in the number of wireless Internet users: 79 million people use i-Mode from NTT DoCoMo or services of other companies.

By the prevalence of the Internet Asia is currently the leading region of the world. While in Europe there are 292 million, and in North America - 227 million Internet users, in Asia this figure reached 375 million. Leaders in this area are Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan; China has recently joined this group of leaders: by the beginning of 2006, the number of Internet users in this country was 111 million (8.5% of the population).
South Korea leads the way in broadband Internet access: 70% of households are connected to the network in this country. In general, in the Asian region, DSL technology (153 million) and cable modems (76 million) are most often used for connection.
