Liberator pistol inventor refused to sell a new 3D printer

Another failure befell the company Defense Distributed , which promotes the manufacture of weapons at home. Company founder Cody Wilson announced that MarkForged startup refuses to supply him with a prepaid Mark One 3D printer that prints carbon fiber products. And all due to the fact that Wilson is openly engaged in the manufacture of prototypes and spare parts for weapons on 3D-printers.

In 2013, Wilson managed to print the world's first plastic firearm from Liberator . The reliability of the gun was extremely low, but the event itself shook the public - still, it turns out that now everyone can make a weapon for themselves that no detector will show. But the inventor did not stop there.

This year, his company Defense Distributed offers to those who wish to purchase Ghost Gunner automatic milling machines. These are general-purpose programmable machines, but they are advertised as home-made devices for an AR-15 rifle. The remaining parts of the rifle are commercially available in the US, therefore, having made this missing part, the garage Kulibin receives a fully functional weapon. Upon learning of this, FedEx refused to deliver this machine to start-up buyers and took the time to think about their next steps.

Naturally, when last year MarkForged introduced a new 3D printer that prints carbon fiber parts, Wilson could not pass by. The company promises that the resulting parts are even stronger in strength than aluminum alloy. Wilson made a prepayment of $ 8,000, waited for the printer to start shipping, and then found that the company flatly refused to send him the product - all because of the same reputation as a “home-gunsmith”.

The prepaid inventor was returned, but he was still interested in the printer. Therefore, on March 2, he announced a reward of $ 15,000 to anyone who delivers this printer to him.

Cody Wilson is an active libertarian. He is confident that government restrictions in the digital age have lost all meaning. In addition to weapons development, he participates in the project Dark Wallet - a system for working with cryptocurrency, aimed at the anonymity of users.
