Eight 64-bit cores and LTE: MediaTek MT6753 chipset introduced

The company MediaTek has released a new chipset designed for mid-range smartphones. The MT6753 chipset is the world's first single-chip platform with a 64-bit eight-core processor and an integrated WorldMode class modem. According to the developers, the chipset has the best performance in its class, and the low purchase price will allow smartphone makers to produce affordable devices.

The processor consists of eight 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency of up to 1.5 GHz. The graphics chip Mali-T720 with support for OpenGL ES 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, as well as DirectX 11 is responsible for processing graphics. Implemented 4xFSAA and 8xFSAA anti-aliasing. The management of the hardware platform is entrusted to the proprietary technology MediaTek CorePilot, which maintains a balance between heat generation, power consumption and chipset power.

Also among the proprietary MediaTek options are the PIP (Picture-in-Picture), VIV (Video in Video) and Video Face Beautifier shooting functions. The chipset supports the use of cameras up to 16 megapixels. The maximum screen resolution is 1920 × 1080 pixels at a frequency of up to 60 Hz. To control the brightness of the display, MediaTek MiraVision technology is used, which analyzes not only the illumination near the smartphone, but also the color gamut of the current image.

As for wireless communications, the WorldMode class modem supports most of the 3G / 4G network bands, as well as CDMA2000, TDD and FDD LTE, HSPA +, TD-SCDMA and GSM / EDGE. This allows using MediaTek MT6753 smartphones around the world with equal success almost without adaptation to the cellular networks of a certain region. LTE Rel. 9, Cat. 4 FDD and TDD LTE provide download speeds up to 150 Mbps and downloads up to 50 Mbps. Wireless video transmission to TVs is carried out using Miracast technology, and compatibility with wearable electronics and fitness bracelets is a merit of Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

The first smartphones on MediaTek MT6753 will appear in the second quarter of 2015.
