The SpaceX heavy Falcon Heavy booster will be launched in spring 2016

The SpaceX heavy booster, called the Falcon Heavy, will be launched into space next spring. This information was reported by SpaceX Vice President Lee Rosen at a conference in Pasadena. The window for launch, according to experts, is the end of April - the beginning of May.

Previously, this carrier rocket has already been written, more than once. But the launches were constantly postponed . Generally speaking, at the moment it is the most powerful launch vehicle capable of carrying a cargo of 53 tons into orbit. In order to launch, the company must carefully prepare the entire system of the LC-39 complex. It also launched the Saturn V rocket, which sent the Apollo 11 to the moon. Since then, the power site almost never used.

Only Saturn V from NASA, which was used in the implementation of the Apollo and Skylab missions, was heavier than this launch vehicle.

Thanks to the Merlin engines installed (there are 27 of them here), the rocket can send about 13 tons of payload to Mars.



About Falcon Heavy, you can say that this booster is a three Falcon 9, assembled together. SpaceX plans to reduce the cost of launch due to the return of steps. The first launch, which will be held in the spring, is considered a test, demonstration.
