Apple has announced plans to build two data centers in Europe. Both data centers will work exclusively on "green" energy, they will support the work of services such as iTunes, iMessages, Siri for European users. One of the data centers will be built in the west of Ireland, the other in central Denmark. DC opening is expected by 2017.
According to Tim Cook , the head of Apple, so far this project is the largest of all European projects of the company. At the same time, the creation of hundreds of new jobs and the introduction of one of the most innovative types of “green” design for data centers is expected.
In addition, the creation of data centers for European customers means more efficient work with user data of European customers, including the protection of such data. High-ranking officials of the
European Commission believe that Europe has become a new center of trust for these users (here we have in mind that the NSA and the US government do not have access to European DCs).

In Denmark, the heat generated by the servers will be used to heat local households.
As for the economic contribution, it is also quite large. According to Tim Cook, Apple now employs 18,300 Europeans from 19 European countries. Now 2 thousand more workplaces will be added. In 2014, the company spent around 7.8 billion euros in Europe.
