Why are the Mars One members ready for a one way trip?

As you know, Mars One is currently being implemented, the goal of which is to found a colony of people on Mars. The project has one feature - the possibility of the return of colonists to Earth is not provided. Perhaps sometime in the very distant future, Martian colonists will be able to return to their home planet, but so far such a goal has not been set. However, this feature of the project does not deter potential expedition participants - there are much more people who want to go to Mars than is required.

In the first round of selection of volunteers, 700 people won. After some time , the second round will begin , during which most of the current 700 people will be eliminated. And if you remember - all these people are ready to die on Mars. Why? Recently, some volunteers were interviewed by journalists, and a documentary was created based on the survey results (albeit subtitles and audio are only English).

Every volunteer must be a generalist - not just a doctor or mechanic, but also a cook, a medical orderly, a physicist, and many more. The universality of the participants is the key to the successful implementation of the mission. There is no doubt that the psychological and physical stress will be very high, and the colonists must be resistant people. Survive - half the trouble, you need to survive and stay sane and hard memory.

In this case, the colonists will have to live without:

• Sex The colony is in no way adapted for children to appear in it - there simply will not be resources for them. No protection during sex can be a guarantee for the appearance of a child, many readers have probably seen this;
• Alcohol - alcohol will be banned on Mars, low pressure does not contribute to the use of such beverages;
• Habitual food - gourmets on Mars have nothing to do, the dishes will be, to put it mildly, not very tasty;
• Relatives and families - you can only chat and talk with them, very rarely. The colonist leaves family and relatives forever;
• Return ticket . Has the colonist changed his mind? Late, do not get back in any way. That is absolutely nothing.
