Google postponed the release of the modular smartphone Project Ara for the next year
Many of us are waiting for the release of a modular smartphone Project Ara, but it seems that we will have to wait a long time. Previously , the project team stated that the phone would not be sold in Puerto Rico, as planned. Plans are changing, and new information has been promised this week.
Everything is good here - the corporation really kept its promise, and said that it expects a modular smartphone in the future. And here everything is not good - the release of the device is postponed to 2016. At the beginning or end of the year - is unknown, no one reports the details. But the company told about where the phone will be shown to real buyers - this will happen in the USA, in several locations at once. Now the corporation is engaged in the search for regions suitable for the announcement of the phone. ')
As previously reported, at this stage the project team has already created 11 main modules for the smartphone. By the end of 2015, the number of components will increase to 30. The main unit is the Nvidia Tegra K1 with the Marvell PXA1928 chip, plus a display with a resolution of 1280 * 720 pixels (display sizes are not called). The developers also offer a camera module with a 5 MP matrix, a battery module, various communication modules (including 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth) and a module with a micro USB port. The module-detector of air pollution will also be available (although the functionality of the module is also not disclosed). It can be assumed that this module will determine the concentration of carbon monoxide (carbon monoxide), the concentration of carbon dioxide and some other compounds.
Here it is necessary to remind that the sale will be (if, of course, it really happens) not one, but just three phones of different sizes. The first one is basic, it has the smallest size. The second one is average in functionality, respectively, larger in size. Well, the third - the most functional, this is a phablet.
You can choose not only the configuration of your phone, but also the size / model of such a phone. By the way, the phone modules will be of different colors, so you can choose the one that you like the most. By the way, I recommend to pay attention to the installation mechanism of the module in its place.
According to the team, the goal of the project itself is to create a phone for 6 billion people who can create their own smartphone configuration of their own choice. As the moral (or physical) obsolescence of components, they can be replaced.
