Beloved Chicken Printed Prosthesis for $ 2500

Surgeons from the veterinary school have an unusual operation : the installation of a three-month hem prosthesis. Experts were quite surprised when they received such an order. But the mistress insisted. Moreover, she was ready to pay $ 2500 for 3D printing of the prosthesis and surgery.

Three-month-old Cecily suffers from a crooked leg: still being a chicken, she tore a tendon, and her leg was not straightened in time, so now she cannot walk normally. Only thanks to modern technologies she will be able to lead a full-fledged chicken life, albeit with a prosthesis.

Cecily lived on a chicken farm owned by Andrea Martin , a specialist in proper chicken and chicken rearing. She knows in which rooms you need to keep the birds and how to feed them so that they are happy. Andrea also finds new hens for chickens who will take care of them at home.

"She can't perch." She can do practically nothing that normal chickens do, ”says Martin. “If you do not have an operation, you will have to put it to sleep.”

But now Cecily has hope. Andrea and the new mistress Cecily ordered a prosthetic foot for her. To do this, we first made a CT scan of a healthy foot and made an inverted 3D model so that the other foot corresponded to a healthy one.

The operation to amputate the paws and install the prosthesis will take place at the Cummings Veterinary School at Taft University this week. The operation will be conducted by Dr. Emi Knafo.

Although some of us only meet with chickens in the dining room, in fact every little creature also has a personality: “They deserve a good life. They deserve everything. So we have no choice but to give them what they need, ”said Martin.
