Amateur photographers often take photographs of celestial bodies, which are rare even among professional astronomers. But experts can work no worse than amateurs. A confirmation of the above can serve as a snapshot of the ISS, passing through the disk of the Moon, made by a specialist photographer from NASA. The photographer had only 0.82 seconds to capture the station on the background of our satellite. The photo was taken August 2, 2015.

This is the second time in a few days, when the moon attracts the attention of astronomers. July 31, we watched the " Blue Moon ", the second time - now, thanks to the above-mentioned photos.

It is worth noting that it is not so difficult to take a picture of the ISS against the background of the Moon, but it requires a fair amount of exposure and preparation. “This is not the most difficult picture. The most important part is the preparation, collection of data on when and where the ISS will take place, as well as exploring the capabilities and limitations of the equipment. Then it is important to accurately determine your own coordinates and more - good weather conditions. This was not our first attempt, so error tracking and repetition is a good lesson, ”said the author of the image, Bill Ingalls, NASA photographer.

The team prepared well, and on August 2, while passing the ISS across the disk of the Moon, the necessary images were taken. The station was moving at a speed of about 8 km per second. Despite the fact that the image of the ISS looks pretty close to the disk of the moon, the distance from the satellite to the station was 40,2336 km. The Earth from the ISS is only 402 km away.
