Auto.ru wants to close 55 sites with similar names
Web Studio LLC Meta Dizayn became the defendant in a lawsuit of the company Avto.ru LLC owned by Yandex. The lawsuit was filed on January 13, 2015.
The plaintiff requires the closure of 55 websites owned by Meta Design LLC and to seek compensation from the defendant. All sites are named after the same pattern XXXauto.ru, where instead of XXX the numbers are usually indicated: 04auto.ru, 06auto.ru, 07auto.ru and so on.
55 sites are automatically generated one by one, only the name of the region in the header changes. For example, here’s what 04auto.ru and 06auto.ru look like.

Despite this, resources have some kind of audience. According to the head of Meta Design, Artyom Potekhin, the Krasnoyarsk website 24auto.ru is visited by about 450 thousand people a month. The remaining resources are visited in total by about 5-7 thousand people.
Interestingly, this is already the second attempt of Avto.ru LLC to close 55 controversial sites. In August 2014, a lawsuit was filed against the registrar of CJSC Regional Network Center, but the court rejected the lawsuit, since the registrar is not a domain administrator.
At the same time, Meta Design LLC hopes to defend its property: “We are well prepared. We have a good lawyer, ”said Artyom Potekhin.
The case will be heard in the Arbitration Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. A regional web studio will be extremely difficult to resist a Moscow corporation.
