Apparently, already in the middle of the year - around WWDC, Apple announces the MacBook Air in a new package, with a monitor of 12 "and, as can be seen from the photo, a significantly modified keyboard from side to side.

The 12-inch version, equipped with a USB Type-C connector and made in a much thinner form factor than the modern 13-inch, will also be noticeably lighter. The display, which will most likely be in two versions, has become larger: Retina or the “standard” version, and the buttons have moved very close to each other, while some have changed their places altogether.

Changed and the touchpad, which has become more elongated. Also, it will probably not be possible to click on it - this action will be replaced by a “tap” due to the space saved inside the thin case of the laptop. The columns moved to the upper edge of the enclosure.

It remains only to guess the exact size, weight and power of the new Air, but it is obvious that Apple engineers had to trick, for the sake of a balance of portability and power notebook. After all, the model promises to be almost 2 times thinner than the existing 11-inch MacBook Air.

UPD.: Judging by the official USB Type-C documentation , Apple supported the development initially, sending 18 engineers to deal with the new connector, along with companies such as Google (10), Dell (5) and HP (6). Intel team consisted of 24 developers, Microsoft - 16 people.
