Smart helmet received a grant of 14.7 million rubles from the Ministry of Education

Russian startup Livemap, developing augmented reality motorcycle helmet with navigation, received a grant from the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and is preparing to start selling the device in the US next summer.

Livemap is working on the creation of helmets with voice control and navigation, which is displayed right in front of the driver, eliminating the need to poke a smartphone or a navigator attached to the steering wheel. At the same time, no alerts should not distract from the road and in any way interfere with the user.

According to project founder Andrei Artischev, for the last year the team has been developing and pre-producing prototypes for Livemap optics. Optics will have built-in aspherical lenses. An important goal of the development was to reduce the cost of optics.

The project will receive from the Ministry of Science and Education of Russia 14.7 million rubles over three years.

In the spring, Livemap will show the world a prototype, and in the summer it will start selling - but so far only in the US market.
