Hello, readers HabraHabr.
Recently, I began to study programming on my own, and since then during the learning process (or the primitive development process) I regularly encounter the following problems:
-
too lazy to learn
- time and effort spent on the organization of windows you are working with at the moment
- the presence of unnecessary windows, with which either at the moment, or do not work at all (for example, the console of the server running)
- physical lack of space to accommodate all windows, which will be convenient to work
If you enter the query "Mac window manager" into Google, you get a lot of utility results - window managers, reviews and reviews. But for Windows - complete silence.
On my favorite Toster service I was prompted by several utilities that greatly facilitate the organization of the work space, which I now use myself and want to share with others.
In order not to waste the time of those who know about them, I will immediately list: AquaSnap, DIVVY and BetterDesktopTool.
I myself will try to briefly describe their most useful functions.
AquaSnap
I consider
synchronous resizing of windows to be the main function of this program. It is strange that the company Microsoft in its most popular software called "Windows" (Windows) did not come up with the idea to implement it.
')
Also, the essential convenience is the ability to move the window to one of the quarters (or two halves) of the desktop, dragging its title bar, or assign hot keys to it
The best way to
fall in love is to evaluate all the features of the program by watching the full
demo video .
A small digression or "stone in the garden of LG"
At the moment, LG is actively promoting and trying to introduce the same synchronous window change function in new monitor models, but the software works exceptionally crookedly, and the sharp and short answers from Call Center operators create the impression that marketers have worked well, but the developers did not have time to realize the promise. All of the above is verified and confirmed by the purchase (and subsequent return to the store) of the LG monitor with the declared function.
Divy
Due to the fact that AquaSnap performs all the necessary functionality, I installed it several times and then deleted DIVVY.
The reason for this is an additional good (but I do not really need) function that allows you to place the window in a specific place, simply by allocating this place on the grid representing the desktop layout.
This time, it is possible to assign windows to hot keys not only in one of the fourths of the screen, but in any predefined area.

BetterDesktopTool
While watching the presentation of the new Apple OS, I noticed an excellent functionality called Mission Control, which allows you to display all the open windows on the screen, which visually facilitates the selection of the one you need when there are a lot of them. That is what the specified program does.
A nice bonus is the ability to create virtual tables and interact with them using hot keys. For example, I always “send” unnecessary windows to a virtual table (for example, the console of a running server).

Second monitor
I really hope that one day I will become a worthy programmer, but already now, at the training stage, I feel the need to increase the working space, for which I plan to purchase another monitor.
This is not a program, but still, according to many, an excellent solution in such situations.
I am sure that sharing the described utilities and the increased working space will improve work efficiency.
Ps . While writing an article, I found a
list of alternatives to the listed programs.
Based on this, I will be grateful for giving examples of the solutions you use and their advantages / disadvantages to identify the most successful programs.
PPS All high productivity.
