Microsoft plans to release a new model of Xbox One gamepad

Microsoft plans to provide an updated gamepad for the Xbox One next month, reports The Verge .

According to the giant, his plans include equipping new gamepads, which will be released next month, with a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. Existing controllers do not have such a connector and Xbox One owners have to buy a special stereo headset adapter to connect headphones to the gamepad.

Microsoft will hold its own presentation at the E3 game show on June 15, so it is logical to assume that the new gamepad will be presented to the public there. At the same time, such a decision raises a number of technical issues. Older models of headsets connected via an adapter are controlled from their own unit, which controls the volume and on / off function. It is not clear yet how it will be possible to control ordinary headphones using only the Xbox One gamepad and whether it will include any additional features for this.

These innovations also hint that Microsoft, taking into account the hardware changes of the gamepad, can make adjustments to the console itself. Previously, the giant has already conducted an update of Xbox 360 software, which made the previous generation console software less cumbersome. Before the start of E3, it’s too early to judge, but apparently, considering this small upgrade, Microsoft is looking for ways to hardware optimize the Xbox One.
