The dynamics of a giant group of sunspots for 12 days
The Sun has been observing for a long time, both from the Earth and the Earth's orbit, and from other points of space (talking about Solar Dynamics Observatory ). Every day, the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) generates about 1.5 terabytes of data, and half the data is delivered to the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly. These are approximately 57,600 images every day.
The other day from the group of images on which a group of large sunspots were fixed (approximately 20 times larger than the Earth) made a video. The duration of the video is a little over a minute, but here the dynamics of the spots for 12 days are shown. By the way, the group got its own number, this is # 2339. According to the experts, this group of spots was noticeable in the first half of the month (May) even without optical systems - the spots could be observed with the naked eye at sunset or during the formation of light haze from the clouds. The video allows you to notice even the formation and dynamics of X-flash from May 5th. ')
The images were obtained by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO / NASA) using a helioseismic magnetometer (HMI) from May 5 to May 17, 2015. The video itself was compiled by members of the astro-alert.ru community, who sent a link to their video.
