The events of the trilogy "Back to the Future" could not happen

Dr. Emmett Brown was supposed to be shot dead for stealing plutonium from terrorists. Marty McFly never should have kissed his mother in 1955. His father would never be a successful man, Marty could not know his future. He and the dock would never have visited the Wild West. All the events in the films "Back to the Future" are impossible. Ask why? Because time machine does not exist? Nonsense! Everything is much more prosaic.

A DeLorean would never be able to accelerate to 88 miles per hour in that same parking lot.

In any case, this is claimed by the author of one of the “Opposite Lock” blog entries , which spent time doing some calculations, which, apparently, no one has ever done before. First of all, he found on the map the location of the very parking in the state of California, where the scene from the film was filmed. Then, using data about DeLorean and information about the routes of dispersal of the car from the film (the first, when the dock sends the dog to the future for a minute, and the second, when terrorists chase Marty), he measured the distances on a google map. After making calculations, he came to the conclusion that even taking a preliminary acceleration, the size of the parking is not enough for Marty McFly to reach the cherished speed of 88 miles per hour, at which DeLorian jumped over time. Instead, he would have crashed into a booth at the end of the parking lot at about 70 miles per hour, followed by caricature terrorists trying to catch up with him.

But his theory has a number of opponents. The main complaints are that the researcher used a number of assumptions to substantiate his theory. For example, that Doc Brown did not make any changes to the design of the DeLorian engine, which is very doubtful. Doc spent so much time and effort to create a time machine and did not improve it at all or, at least, did not optimize its basic part? And of course, the author committed the main sin of all the fans - he began to apply real physical laws to Hollywood creations. As it usually happens on the network, people start to expose small problems and details, trying to prove their point of view, instead of trying to make this world a better place.
