SpaceX has conducted an astronaut emergency rescue test for the spacecraft Dragon X

The company Ilona Mask successfully conducted tests of the emergency rescue of astronauts for Dragon X. At the same time, instead of living people, a dummy surrounded by 270 different sensors, sensors, sound and video recording equipment took part in the tests. The entire surveillance system was supposed to record the load on the dummy and the overall situation inside the ship. The launch took place at 16:00.

In this case, 8 SuperDraco engines were used, whose shells were printed on a 3D printer. Engines develop significant power, enough to lift the capsule by 100 meters in 2 seconds, and by 500 meters in 5 seconds. Thanks to such high speed, the creators of the system hope to lead the ship and crew away from a dangerous place in case of an emergency.

By “dangerous place” is meant a launch vehicle. If an emergency situation arises (fire, depressurization, etc.), the security system is activated, and the capsule with the astronauts is simply discarded from the accident site. Such a system is capable of saving the lives of many astronauts, since emergency situations that threaten the life and health of a team still unfortunately arise .

The maximum height to which the capsule weighing 8 tons rose was one and a half kilometers. At this height, the capsule was disconnected from the carrier, and then made a soft landing (by parachute) in the Atlantic Ocean, about 1 km from the coast.

The total flight duration was 1.5 minutes.

It should be noted that the first flight of astronauts on the ISS on the Dragon ship will occur in 2017.
