Cars in Europe will automatically report emergency services to rescue services.

The European Union has confirmed plans to install an eCall system on cars and minibuses, which automatically inform rescue services about the accident. The technology will be introduced in all new cars in the participating countries from April 2018.

In 2014, 25,700 people died on the roads of the European Union. The system is expected to reduce the time it takes for the services to respond by 40-50%, depending on the terrain, which will save up to 2500 lives a year. The eCall system will establish voice communication with the operators and transfer basic data - vehicle type, location and time of the accident. Passengers and eyewitnesses will be able to manually activate the system by clicking on the button.

The representative of the Czech Republic Olga Zeynalova in the European Parliament noted that the service will be public, free of charge for citizens, regardless of the type of vehicle and its price. Installation of the system will cost the car companies $ 109 per car, but the driver will be able to upgrade the system for an additional fee.

Olga Zeynalova separately spoke about the security of the system in terms of personal data: she assured that the system would turn on only after the accident - at the time of opening the airbags.
