it became known that the social network VKontakte intends to open its own full-fledged video hosting. And at the presentation during the RIF + KIB 2015 conference, the head of the VKontakte customer service department Alexander Kruglov
officially announced that the social network will launch this project no later than April 24.
“We know a lot about the user; we know what videos he watches, what videos his friends watch and upload. We know what he is interested in principle, - says Kruglov. “Based on this knowledge, VKontakte will launch a platform on which video content will be pulled up using an advisory model.”
Monetization of the service will continue to occur with the help of advertising embedded in the commercials. VKontakte does not plan to let advertisers with their videos go to the section of “recommended” videos chosen according to the user's preferences.

Key advertising sourcesKruglov announced that the new video section will compete with television when the user chooses what he is interested in watching now, and not what is shown on TV. Although, it is clear that VC will mainly compete with YouTube, where the monetization process is also built on embedding videos in advertising. The social network promised to embed no more than 3-4 commercials into a videotape about 25 minutes long.
