The free state of Liberland is created: “Live and let live”

Among the virtual states (micronations) replenishment. On April 13, 2015, a new country, Liberland , was formed on a 6 km ² no-man’s territory between Serbia and Croatia (they do not claim this piece of forest). It seems that the excitement has already begun among citizens of different countries who want to change their place of residence. Just yesterday, about 1000 applications for citizenship were filed and more than 6,000 registrations were received in the community of Liberland .



The motto of Liberland is "Live and let live." “The founders of the new state want to create a society where decent people can flourish without unnecessary government prohibitions and taxes. Our ideals are Monaco, Liechtenstein and Hong Kong, ”wrote the state’s founder and first president Vit Jedlička in an official press release proclaiming the independence of the country.



As you know, many citizens of different countries do not like laws, taxes and all sorts of restrictions in their own country - they are looking for an option to move to permanent residence somewhere else with different legislation. Fortunately, freedom of movement is guaranteed by international law and adopted in almost all countries. Free virtual states are almost ideal for such emigration, because there is no legislation and taxes at all (for now).

Every citizen of Liberland will take part in building a state from scratch. Ideally, society will adopt optimal norms and taxes to ensure a happy life in the modern world; these norms will not be tied to the ridiculous cultural traditions of the past. Wit Edlichka - a member of the Party of Free Citizens of the Czech Republic and the self-proclaimed President of Liberland, I am sure: taxes must be paid on a voluntary basis.
