Library INION asks Muscovites for help in restoring the PC park

According to Lenta.ru , the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences, represented by employee Mikhail Mints on its Facebook page , asks Muscovites to help restore the computer park that was affected by the January 30, 2015 fire lasting more than a day. Particularly valuable for the library are rare PCs - AT / 286/386/486 , which will be used as terminals for working with the 1985 HP library server. More modern machines for a 30 year old server are too fast.

The INION library fund, which includes more than 14 million documents, was seriously injured in the January 30 fire. The fire caused irreparable damage: from the entire collection only 7,000 documents and books were digitized.

The INION library turned to Muscovites for help, as only 35 million rubles were allocated to eliminate the consequences of the fire, which were only allowed to be spent on repairs. During the fire, according to one employee on Facebook, all office equipment and the PC park of the political science department were destroyed, the work was paralyzed.

Mikhail Mintz confirms that they need not only rarities. The library is still critically lacking conventional PCs, scanners and MFPs . The library staff, apparently, are even ready to pick up unnecessary equipment by self-pickup from the specified point in Moscow.
