Virgin is working on its version of the electric car

Richard Branson is not inferior to Ilona Mask in the global nature of his plans and foresight. In addition, Branson can also be called a generalist: his companies operate in many fields, including aerospace. True, in one of the directions Branson is much inferior to the Mask, namely, in electric vehicles. Virgin simply did not deal with electric cars intended to go to the masses, but now everything seems to have changed .



Branson himself recently said that his company is working on his own electric vehicle project, which in the future can be countered with Tesla. Now, according to the head of the Virgin, several teams of engineers and designers are working on this project. True, Branson did not go into the details.

I must say that the Virgin Racing team is already successfully competing with other teams on Formula E, the “electric” analogue of Formula 1, with its own version of a racing electric car. And now the racing component can be expanded by adjusting the production of conventional electric cars. Branson said that Virgin could well compete with Tesla in this area, just as Virgin and SpaceX are competing in the aerospace field.



It is worth noting that the current version of the Branson racing electric car can reach speeds of 260 kilometers per hour, and accelerate to 100 kilometers in just 3 seconds. This electric car, perhaps, will be taken as the basis for the design of the "consumer" version.
