American scientists and researchers (
Scripps Research Institute , Mayo Private Clinic, and others)
have discovered a new class of drugs that greatly slow down the aging process, reduce the effects of related diseases, improve the cardiovascular system and prolong life.
The work was published in the journal Aging Cell.
Scientists tested two drugs on animals. One of them is the antitumor drug of directional action
dasatinib (Sprysel trademark). The second is
quercetin , a substance that helps from edema, spasms, inflammation, and is found in many fruits, vegetables, leaves, and cereals. As a result of experiments, it turned out that these drugs kill aging cells - those cells of the body that stop dividing and only accumulate with age, contributing to the aging of the body. Scientists have called the new class of drugs "
senolitiki ".
Researchers regard the discovery as the first big step towards the development of drugs that can prolong life and help fight age-related diseases.

In combination, these two drugs have a beneficial effect on mice and human tissue cells. Dasatinib coped with the cells that make up the aging human fat cells, and quercetin showed itself well when working with human vascular cells and mouse stem cells from the bone marrow.
After the combination of drugs was administered to old mice only once, they felt better for five days and began to show much better results in various tests of physical endurance. Also, these drugs have significantly improved the condition of the mice, weakened by chemotherapy drugs. The effect of the action of just one injection of drugs in some cases persisted for as long as seven months.
Periodic use of drugs to mice susceptible to accelerated aging, increased their lifespan, delayed the appearance of age-related symptoms, manifestations of spinal degeneration and osteoporosis.
The drugs will have to be tested for the presence of side effects before they can be used in humans.
