Russian autopilot developer for warehouse transport RoboCV has raised three million dollars in investment

RoboCV , developer of the X-Motion autopilot, has raised $ 3 million in investment. The equipment with the “brains” from the company is already working in the warehouses of large Russian retailers and a limited part has been supplied to the Volkswagen and Samsung plants. The company is developing a universal autopilot, which can later be used in any vehicle.

The development of the autopilot began with the "Selenohod" lunar rover, with which the team planned to win $ 20 million in the Google contest. Due to lack of funds, the project was withdrawn from the competition, but decided to commercialize the idea and create autonomous navigation for transport. In 2013, RoboCV received an offer from Samsung to upgrade the autopilot technique.

The system is a computer based on the Intel i5 / i7 processor, a control controller, a video camera, LIDAR laser scanners, a touchscreen display and a Wi-Fi module that transfers data to the server side — it distributes tasks and monitors their execution. The safety relay shuts down the motors in case of abnormal situations. The camera is used to read bar codes, tags and object recognition. For processing information from the sensors is responsible own software "3D Path". A loader with such a system finds the necessary racks, chooses a pallet itself and goes around obstacles on the way. X-Motion can already be equipped with a tractor, pallet carrier, loader and high-altitude narrow aisle stacker. The main requirement for technology - electric drive working bodies.

The company has invested three million dollars. The main investor is the Russian-Kazakhstan Nanotechnology Fund, which was established by RUSNANO, Kazyna Capital Management, VTB Capital and I2BF Holdings. LETA Capital, Almaz Capital and Columbus Nova Technology Partners took part in the project. The funds will be used to develop and optimize autopilot for warehouse forklifts, but the company plans to refine the system for use in transport in industrial zones, on quarry and heavy equipment and cars.
