The first Ubuntu-smartphone will be available next week.

It took quite a long time after the appearance of the first information that Canonical was going to release a Ubuntu-based smartphone. When such news appeared for the first time, the developers talked about a powerful smartphone that can be used as a desktop - just connect the monitor and the corresponding input devices. Of course, the performance of such a device should have been pretty solid. But, unfortunately, the reality was somewhat different.

Phone Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition , which will appear in Europe next week at a price of $ 190, will not be able to work as a “mobile desktop”. It will be a budget phone with customized Ubuntu as an operating system.

The approximate configuration of the device is now known: the phone will have a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 960 * 540 pixels, a 1.3 GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory. It will also be possible to expand the available memory by adding a microSD card. In addition, the phone is equipped with two slots for SIM-cards. The front camera is 5 MP, this is the only thing that makes the phone a bit different from a number of similar ones (if you don't take into account the OS).

In principle, due to the low price and Ubuntu, this phone can become popular. Unfortunately, the smartphone has a very small number of previously announced functions. A novelty is the category for desktops - for various functions (music, news, etc.) will be your desktop.

About the start of sales will be announced on the company page and on twitter Ubuntu .
