The multi-rotor, laden with three kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, crashed into a parking lot of a Mexican supermarket near the border with the United States. It happened on Tuesday morning near the
San Isidro border crossing. Six packets of the drug were tied to the drone. The incident was
announced on Wednesday by the
police of Tijuana .
According to Jorge Mauroy, a representative of the Mexican police, this is not the first case of an attempt to smuggle drugs across the border in such a high-tech way. The fall, apparently, was caused by the overload of the device, which was identified as the six-motor Spreading Wings S900.
The smuggling of drugs across the border with the United States has a long history. Earlier, drug dealers dug tunnels, built catapults, built submarines, and tried other ways to overcome the border. With the onset of the 21st century, law enforcement agencies had a headache. Multicopters are not displayed on radar screens, they are difficult to notice, and they can be programmed to fly from one point to another. It seems that now drug fighters will have to develop devices for tracking and destroying unmanned vehicles.
