"Cyber Caliphate" ISIS hacked Pentagon social network accounts

The group has published threats and several files.

A few hours ago, the Twitter account @CENTCOM of the US Central Command was hacked. The design and profile description changed to the symbolism of ISIS, and messages with threats to American military structures began to be posted from the account. A link to the Pastebin document was posted. Responsibility for hacking took the hacker group, calling itself Cyber Caliphate.

If you believe the statement of the burglars in this file, they got access to computer networks and personal devices of the US military and stole a lot of personal data. The document has four links to download pages for file-sharing sites with sample information.

Files are two small archives with 22 office documents. Among them are lists of personnel, budget and presentations of several military scenarios.

There are reports that most of the “stolen” data can be found in Google by file name. One file uses a screenshot of www.fas.org/nuke/guide/dprk/facility/other_nuke.htm .

One of the highest ranks of the Pentagon said that the information is not similar to data with a high level of secrecy.

About half an hour after the publication of the first hacking messages, at 9:10 pm on January 12, Moscow time, the Twitter administration blocked the @CENTCOM account. But you can still see the cached content .

The central command’s YouTube account was also hacked. Now it is also blocked by the service until clarification of the circumstances. Prior to that, hackers managed to upload two video files to the hosting.

The US military leadership is already aware of these events and is taking the necessary steps to resolve the situation.

White House spokesman Josh Ernest remarked that there is a big difference between hacking a Twitter account and a major intrusion into computer networks. Doubts have already been expressed about the seriousness of the attack and whether it took place at all.

The Central Command Facebook page has not been hacked. While there are no other traces of hackers Last Tuesday, a group with the same name, symbols and methods of work hacked into the Twitter account of the Albuquerque Journal.

Particularly ironic to the hack is the fact that the threat messages appeared just at the time when the US president spoke about the importance of cybersecurity.
