Scannable: a new application from Evernote for scanning documents on iPhone / iPad

Scanning documents using the phone does not happen in a vacuum, it is part of everyday work tasks, and the scanning application should reflect this - to be used for work, not for the sake of the process itself. It should be based on the content of the documents, and not on the mechanical digitization of papers.

Therefore, we are pleased to introduce Scannable. This application is available for iPhone and iPad and is created in order to not only scan, but also quickly share the received files (you probably don’t need another check in the device’s gallery).

Speed

Point the device camera at a check, business card or contract. This is enough for Scannable to start scanning. No buttons, no trimming, no work with color - everything happens automatically. Each scanned image will appear in the navigator right in scan mode, to make it easier for you to view documents or create a set of several images in one PDF.

Contacts from business cards

Paper business cards are rather inconvenient in many situations: we can put a card in a box and never remember it again or even take a picture of it, but then we will get just a picture of a small piece of paper. All this is not particularly productive. Scannable offers an alternative approach.



The value of business cards lies in the information they contain. After you connect your Evernote and LinkedIn accounts, Scannable will instantly scan the business card and process the data from it. The application will independently complement the contact information with data from the LinkedIn profile, including a snapshot, to make it easier to navigate new contacts. A new contact can be saved on your device and you can safely get rid of paper media.

Sending

With Scannable, the user should not have the question “What to do next?”. The application is created in such a way that the scanned images do not take up the memory of the device and do not “gather dust” in the gallery of images. Send notes to meeting participants by e-mail with one click on the button as soon as you exit the meeting room, send the receipt to your friend via SMS or save the contract to Evernote and other applications directly from Scannable. As soon as the scanned image is sent to its destination, the application navigator will be cleared and ready for new documents.



We understand how important the paper in the work. Therefore, Evernote has search functions for handwritten and typed text in images, joint projects with manufacturers of Moleskine notebooks and Post-it® stickers have been launched.
