An interesting
project from French developers appeared at Kickstarter, located at the junction of hobby modeling and 3D printing. This is a new
online service CreateYourMinis , aimed at fans of computer games, as well as books, films and comics in the genres of cyber-punk and fantasy.

The service offers anyone who wants to “bungle” a virtual model of a heavily armed mercenary, a fabulous Amazon, or a captain of the intergalactic police in a few minutes - with the subsequent materialization of the miniature figurines at 1:56 by 3D printing. The interface of the graphic editor is clearly inspired by classic computer toys in the RPG genre, allowing you to choose the gender and style of your character’s appearance, put it on in different gear, buy weapons, protective equipment and accessories.
')

To tell the truth, the possibilities of the editor are not too impressive. The interface is implemented at the level of the first version of Diablo - you can't call it stylish and modern. Available types of appearance are reduced to two sexes and three categories: mercenaries, fantasy and science fiction. The weapon library has about 60 elements, among which are shields, swords, crossbows, bows, clubs, daggers and various firearms - from hand-held blasters to good old AK-47.

By the way, the editor has the ability to create entire sets of weapons - regardless of the figures. The wardrobe of the characters is not yet so pleasing: two pairs of shoes for each category, as well as a modest selection of chain mail, armor and space suits. In addition, there is an acute shortage of hairstyles and facial expressions - especially the female gender is deprived of attention.

In order not to dwell on the shortcomings, it is worth noting the presence of a very valuable option - the posifier modifier They are not so few in the editor: standing, sedentary, dynamic postures, various fighting racks. But most of them are adapted for a specific type of weapon. So in this area the choice is not too big. Among other things, the developers announce the ability to add a custom logo to the shields and armor. By the way, special requirements will be made to it. In addition to the traditional limitations of the file format and image size, the developers will impose a total ban on the use of Nazi symbols and registered trademarks.

In general, the project turned out to be interesting - in terms of ideas. The incarnation while on "C grade". In addition to the wretched interface and lack of structural elements, the editor sometimes gives errors when rendering, like an inverted laser machine gun aimed at the eye of its owner. However, the developers promise to bring the service to the mind and replenish the library with new devices when the project comes to a commercial level.

Now the site is working in test mode. The user can create different characters, give them names and save in the personal library, ranking by user categories. The possibility of 3D printing will appear a little later (if the campaign succeeds, of course). It is not yet clear whether the developers will limit themselves to making custom-made custom figures and then delivering them to the addressee or supplement it with the ability to download the corresponding STL files. With the prices, too, have not yet decided, but the donators are promised as a gift two exclusive mini-figures: the assassin Hanon and the robot Drop Dead Daisy.
