The accuracy of the positioning of the GLONASS system by 2020 will be 60 cm instead of the current 2 m 60 cm. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin stated this in
an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel.
The optimistic plans are connected with the new generation Glonass-K communication satellites, which are already ready for launch into orbit. “This is already a serious competition all over the world. Our other partners will start using our navigation signal, ”said Rogozin.
As is known, the GLONASS system is a dual-use system. It provides the solution of tasks both in the interests of the Russian Ministry of Defense and civilian users. Therefore, the expansion of the satellite constellation is a priority for the Russian state. Rogozin also said this: one of the tasks for the near future is to resolve defense issues. On the orbit there should be "such a number of spacecraft that would allow for prompt response to any threat."

put into orbit , and on December 3, 2014, the Glonass-M satellite No. 755 was
put into maintenance .
Now for the intended purpose 24 devices are used (for comparison, in the GPS system - 32).

It differs from the satellites of the previous generation by increased life up to 10 years (instead of 7 years at Glonass-M), by a reduced weight (935 kg instead of 1415 kg), by introducing a code division of the navigation signal due to broadcasting in the L3-band. In addition, the equipment of the international search and rescue system COSPAS-SARSAT is located on the satellite, the Federal Space Agency
