A dog with a congenital defect of the front paws was able to run thanks to 3D printing
A derby is a dog born with deformed front paws. If not for the owners, the dog would have died at the very beginning of life. But thanks to the kennel Peace and Paws, the dog managed to survive, and even to find new owners. And now, thanks to new technologies, Derby can even run, although previously it was only possible to crawl.
Specialists have developed special prostheses, which were printed on a 3D printer. The work was done a lot, but everything turned out as well as possible. Prosthetics works were performed by 3D Systems. The director of the company read the history of Derby on the nursery site, and decided to help the animal. ')
Experts have created prostheses that look like children's “jumping shoes”, and provide Derby with the possibility of normal movement. The result is a happy dog who managed to run for the first time in his life.
In principle, this is not the first story of animal help by the forces of specialists in 3D printing. Now such cases are becoming more and more, and 3D printing has already become an indispensable tool in many cases, including medicine (prosthetics of the vertebrae, individual bones of the skull, bones).
