The search giant imperceptibly rolled out several improvements to its Google Drive service for the desktop and for mobile clients for Android and iOS.
Google Drive
got a closer integration with Gmail mail: previously, the ability to share the file was to link to it. If the file was deleted, the addressee, accordingly, lost access to it. Now, if the file is sent by the “Insert as attachment” command, then it will be physically stored in the recipient's mail account, regardless of whether it is preserved in the original location or not.

an open OpenDocument Format (odf) was
added to a significant list of supported file formats, including documents, spreadsheets, and presentations that were previously in their infancy. It is interesting to note that ODF support is one of the mandatory
requirements for government procurement in many countries, so Google’s move is hardly a curtsey to the Open Source community.
