Positive Hack Days holds a cyberpunk story "Hacked Future"

In 2014, an unusual event was held at the Positive Hack Days IV international information security forum: the creators of the cult radio program “Model for Assembly” read the cyberpunk stories of Bruce Sterling and Mercy Shelley in a special audio-musical accompaniment.

PHDays V organizers decided to develop this project by giving young Russian science fiction writers the opportunity to get their own stories on the next Cyberpunk Night, which will bring together the main connoisseurs and heroes of the genre - hackers and security specialists, IT businessmen and researchers, government representatives and digital fighters freedom.

To do this, we announce a fantasy story contest “Hacked Future”, which is dedicated to the difficult life of a person in the world of global communications and digital surrogates, which is rapidly advancing on us, total surveillance and invisible cyber war, artificial intelligence and new human abilities.

The winners of the competition will be awarded at the PHDays V conference, and their stories will be read by the “Model for Assembly”. In addition, it is possible to publish the stories of the winners in a separate collection or as part of other collections of the publishing house "Snow Com", which specializes in high-quality Russian fiction.

The terms of participation

Any author can send one fantastic story of no more than 30 thousand characters to the “Hacked Future” competition. Only stories that have not been previously published on paper are accepted (online publication is allowed). The genre and subject of stories can be wider than the classic cyberpunk, but information technology should be a key element in the plot. Who are the judges?

In addition to organizers of the PHDays forum, well-known writers and publishers who are not alien to real science fiction are invited to the jury of the competition. Among them:

• Gleb Gusakov, science fiction writer, head of the publishing house "Snow Com",
• Alexey Andreev aka Mercy Shelley, IT journalist and cyberpunk writer,
• Vladislav Kopp, actor, the permanent presenter of the program “Model for assembly”,
• Sergey Chekmaev, science fiction writer, editor of the Model for Assembly project.
